What Trybe is
Trybe (jointrybe.com) connects brands with creators who make short-form videos. Creators get paid from the sales and ad results their content drives. Run well, it gives you a steady flow of creator ads from people who want your ads to win as much as you do.
The mistake: inviting 100 creators on day one
It feels like more creators means more winners. It doesn't. Most brands can't afford to test what 100+ creators make. You get hundreds of videos, most of them never get spend, creators don't get paid, and word spreads that your program is a dead end.
The creators you burn today are the ones you'll want next year.
Starting small keeps every video testable and every creator motivated.
Size the program to your testing budget
Your testing budget decides how big your program can be, not the number of creators who apply. Each test (one video or concept) needs roughly $225 to $400 of spend before you can read it.
| Monthly testing budget | Video tests you can read |
|---|---|
| $2,000 | About 5 to 8 |
| $4,500 | About 11 to 20 |
| $10,000 | About 25 to 44 |
Here's the catch most brands miss: a test is one video, not one creator. A single creator can send you 20 videos. If nobody tells them how much to make, one eager creator can eat your whole month of testing budget, and everyone else's videos sit unread.
Count videos, not creators.
That's why you want a team that guides creators on how much content to make. We usually start with a warm-up cohort of 5 to 10 creators, tell each one how many videos to make and which angles to cover, then ask the winners for more.
The five phases
- Audit (week 0). Size the program to your spend, not your ambition.
- Warm up (weeks 1 to 4). A small cohort cast to your top customer type. Their ads go live fast, they get paid early, and they get excited to make more.
- Find signal (month 2). Read which customer types, angles, hooks and creator styles spend and convert. Cut the rest.
- Seed better creators (month 3 on). Recruit stronger creators who match the signal, then invest in them with re-briefs, tiers and bonuses.
- Expand (as spend grows). Add new creators and new customer types only when spend and results justify it.
What to put in a creator brief
- The customer. Life stage, problem, where they scroll and how they talk.
- The angle. The one reason to buy this video is about.
- Hooks to try. Two or three openers, so one video can become several ads.
- Must-say and can't-say. The claims you need, and the claims you can't make.
- Examples. Two or three winning ads, so creators can see what good looks like.
How to keep creators excited
- Approve fast. A video sitting in a queue for two weeks kills momentum.
- Get ads live. Creators earn when their ads spend. Spend is the best motivator you have.
- Give real feedback. Show them what worked and why, with numbers.
- Re-brief winners. When a creator wins, ask for new hooks and openers within a week.
What to track
- Spend and cost per purchase for each creator and each video.
- Hook rate, so you know which openers stop the scroll.
- Which customer types and angles convert, so the next round of briefs gets sharper.
- Trybe's sales numbers and Meta's reported ROAS side by side. They measure different things, so never add them together.
Run it yourself or have us run it
New to Trybe? Sign up with our link. You can run a program in house. We trained One Sol's in-house team on creative, writing briefs and hiring creators so they could make their own ads. Or BNGR can run the whole program for you: audit, casting, briefs, approvals, ad uploads and weekly reporting. Here's how our Trybe management works.
